3 Main Costs of Affordable Multifocal Glasses for You

By

Eyewear has taken a new turn with the coming of multifocal glasses in the market. Previously one had to be satisfied with the Franklin or Executive bifocals. These are rather uncomfortable to wear, as there was a line that went across the width of the lens entirely.  Meant for people requiring a correction to be able to see up close, these Executive bifocals were followed by the much smaller half moon bifocal section. However, those in need of correction for the intermediate zone do not have too much of options in this type.

Today, one can seek out multifocal glasses. With these glasses, you can work on the computer and see things at a close range, do work involving seeing in the mid zone and also read and see at a long distance. The reason for them being called multi focal is because they allow one to subscribe to different prescriptions suggesting different power. Bifocal literally means a lens that has two focal points. They are used for looking at a distance as well as near.

It has become pretty difficult to choose the right glasses considering that stores around have different prices for the same pair of glasses. The most popular glasses in the market presently are bifocals and progressive multi-focals. Middle aged and elderly people find it rather comfortable to wear them. However they are rather expensive in the local market. But what make them this expensive?

1. There are a number of expenses that go into making bifocals and multifocals.

2. Lenses and inexpensive eyeglass frames run from the factory to the client pass through many stages like the optometry, processing, adjustment, checking and the likes.

3. Then comes the cost of the cost of opening a store, paying the optometrist, training staff, processing equipment, etc.

Due to such costs, getting a pair of progressive lenses from a local optical store might turn out to be an expensive affair. To be accurate, a set of progressive lenses cost around $400. Now, that might sound a bit expensive for a pair of glasses. So make sure you research a bit and make the right choice when it comes to buying glasses.
